DJ, LIGHTS, ACTION!—It is important to get the right balance between sound and light, mood and ambiance, fun and occasion.

The consultation will help you through the process of getting the balance right for your mobile disco or party package. Too much sound and light, in our experience, can have a reverse effect and make the evening more 'stress' than 'impress'. An experienced mobile DJ will recommend the right sized sound system and lights for the size of venue and number of guests - no point bringing the slammin' base bins if there is no space for them or cranking up the club size laser show for an evening with Glen Miller.

The three main areas that your DJ will consider and discuss with you are:

• Size of venue and any limitations - Funktion DJ's do not expect you to know the exact dimensions or have blueprints of the venue, but usually the location is enough as the DJ may well have experience in your chosen location. Knowing the venue helps us immensely with recommending the right level of sound required to make sure everybody can hear the music clearly without having to deafen the guests nearest to the DJ. We also like to know of any limitations to the venue i.e, in locations situated within residential areas there is usually a decibel limiter that will not allow music to be played above a certain level. Another factor will be access and how easy it is to get in and out of the venue. In cases where access is limited or far away we will always ensure plenty of time for the set-up.
  
• Number of guests and age range - Whilst any DJ can appreciate that you may be an avid music fan and can recite the top 40 off by heart, but an experienced DJ will always be able to help plan out and consult on the best possible play list based on the age range of your guests. Not everyone likes dancing to AC/DC or finds Eminem very relaxing to listen to - that is where the DJ's experience comes in. The number of guests is also an important factor for the amount of lighting that is required, and an approximate number is needed to make sure the right sound and light show is provided to make the party sound great and look good too!
  
• Type of party, disco or occasion - Knowing the type of party you are planning will determine greatly what music your DJ recommends, when it is played and how loud it will be throughout the event, as well as what lights will really help set the mood. It is also important for us to get a good idea of the style of evening you are looking to impress on your guests; an all out dancing-on-the-tables party, a sophisticated evening of dinner and dance or a fun-filled few hours for a kids party. An experienced mobile DJ is skilled at balancing the combination of sound and lights which are key elements in setting the mood with music and creating the atmosphere with the appropriate level of lighting.
  

All equipment used is checked and carry valid PAT tests to ensure absolute safety. All mobile DJ's also ensure that equipment is checked before the day of the event so that substitutions and equipment changes can be made well in advance. We also ensure that all DJ's carry a back-up of leads, microphones, speakers and basic lighting - the show must go on!
